K. of C. > Grand Knight's Message Council 9964 Temecula Valley   November 1, 2009 - Good Day My Brothers.Lent – Embracing the Gifts of Fasting and Prayer. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, “the real aim of Lent is, above all else, to prepare men for the celebration of the death and Resurrection of Christ…the better the preparation the more effective the celebration will be. One can effectively re-live the mystery by purifying his mind and heart. The purpose of Lent is to provide that purification by weaning men from sin and selfishness through self-denial and prayer, by creating in them the desire to do God’s will and to make His kingdom come by making it come first of all in their hearts.” Understanding that this is a self proclaiming period – where we as Catholic’s choose self examination and re-commitment to our belief in remembrance of our Lord and Savior. Are you prepared? Again!! Thanks To All For Your Help –December has come and gone with many Great Deeds have been accomplished. For those whom missed it, the combined multi nation-ality Christmas Caroling was a fantastic success. Not many attended the Stations of the Cross, and Adoration. I simply Thank You all for your assistance in accom-plishing all our challenges. Keep it up; we can accomplish much-much more in the future by spreading out the load. As we look forward into February, we have another month filled with activi-ties. Stations of the Cross & the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – But Mostly – A Valentines Dance for Our Youth, Our Bus Trip to Vegas, and looking on the hori-zon to Our Fish Diner in Support of our Seminarians. God Bless You All as we begin to re-affirm our faith and remem-ber why we are here on Earth. Thank You ALL again from the bottom of my heart for your sup-port throughout this Columbian Year.
