Council 9964 Temecula Valley

January 1, 2012 - Brothers:

My Brother Knights,

I would like to start by wishing each of you a happy New Year. This is an interesting tradition, celebrating the New Year. We put a lot of importance on this day, when all that really happens is we start a new calendar. There is much celebration on the eve of the New Year. Then resolutions are generally made to do a few things better, such as quit smoking or losing weight. The New Year is symbolic of starting over with a clean slate. This is a great thought and very much what our Lord offers to us. As good Christians, we realize that we are far from perfect and He gives us an opportunity to examine our lives and resolve to be better people. Christ, however, is not a once a year opportunity. He is continually present, waiting for us to come to Him. But, we certainly can take advantage of the New Year’s resolution tradition and with Jesus Christ in our minds and hearts, make a meaningful resolution to get closer to Him. We could resolve to pray more or read the Bible a little every day. We would feel better and it’s easier than trying to lose weight!

A New Year Blessing

Every good gift comes from the Father of light. May He grant you His grace and every blessing, and keep you safe throughout the coming year.

May He grant you unwavering faith, constant hope, and love that endures to the end.

May He order your days and work in His peace, hear your every prayer, and lead you to everlasting life and joy.

May you all have a blessed and happy Christmas; Vivat Jesus,
Kieran J. Fitzpatrick, Grand Knight
